Who Am I?
Artist, Traveler, Writer, & Photographer
I, Ginette (she/they), am a queer Puerto Rican artist, currently based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. I am fluent in English and Spanish.
I am constantly exploring, learning, and creating. I spend my time observing my surroundings trying to frame my work like a view through a window. Journalling or jotting down details as I move throughout the world.
I have worked in a variety of art mediums and have two active projects. I have explored most forms of 2-dimensional art, including colored pencils, acrylic paint, ink, stacked paper, and photography; as well as, some 3-dimensional styles like plaster carving, ceramics, origami, crochet, and macrame.
Wonderful moments include starting up a conversation with a kind stranger at a cafe; talking, listening, sharing around a fire; or getting “lost” in nature.
Why?
Exploring, observing, and connecting with the world through travel has been my dream for decades. Humanity exists in vast iterations in many corners of the world. Each one with its unique idiosyncrasies. My goal is to witness, learn, and share what I can. Early on, I wanted to collect and catalog what I had heard, seen, experienced, or shared with me. While I have privately cataloged the majority of my life, I am interested in sharing my creative experience.
In the intervening years, I have realized I am not only an artist, but a storyteller. Being quiet is detrimental to my being, but I refuse to force my creations on anyone. So I created this space as a point of interaction, where I can share my creations while maintaining control over their distribution. Personally, I am not comfortable feeding art to AI.
Basically, I have grown exhausted of cluttering my spaces, but hoarding my creations. I want to take a leap of vulnerability and share the windows I create with photography, my expressions through drawings, my emotions through “sculptures” and my stories through writing. This is me sharing, nervously holding out my observations and creations to see what comes of it.
What to expect?
Currently, active projects, Bloomin’ Fibers, and Paper Planes will be posted on the home page.
The next goal is to open the Store to sell my photography.
Following that, I want to create a member space to share more of the behind-the-scenes projects that are not ready for public consumption.
Once a solid passive income base is created, I want my focus to move toward better inclusion; including spanish translation and audio components.
